1. Our Commitment to Accessibility
Ace Printing & Same Day Signs believes everyone should be able to use this website. Regardless of ability, assistive technology, or device. Accessibility here is not a checkbox; it is actively managed, tested as content changes, and treated with the same “make it right” attitude we apply at the counter.
2. Accessibility Standards
We aim to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act for digital accessibility. The site is built with semantic HTML. Proper headings, landmarks, labels, and reading order, so assistive technology gets structure, not guesswork.
3. ADA Web Pro Partnership
This site’s accessibility is managed through ADA Web Pro, which provides the accessibility widget below, ongoing monitoring, and remediation support. Accessibility issues found between reviews are fixed as part of routine site maintenance.
4. Accessibility Widget Features
Every page carries an accessibility widget (the button in the bottom corner). It provides:
4.1 Visual Adjustments
Text sizing in steps; contrast modes (high contrast, dark, light); color-saturation controls; and color-blind-friendly adjustments.
4.2 Reading Aids
A reading guide (ruler that follows your pointer); a reading mask that dims everything but the line you’re on; adjustable letter spacing, word spacing, and line height; and a dyslexia-friendly font option.
4.3 Navigation Aids
Link highlighting; enlarged cursor options; and a page-structure view for jumping between headings.
4.4 Motor & Motion Aids
A pause-animations control that stops the scrolling ticker and all decorative motion; large click targets; and full keyboard operability of the widget itself.
4.5 Cognitive Aids
A distraction-reducing reading mode, simplified focus highlighting, and the pause-animations control. Together they quiet the page down to just the content.
5. How to Use the Widget
5.1 Opening It
Click or tap the accessibility button in the bottom corner of any page, or reach it with the keyboard: press Tab until the button is focused, then press Enter. The panel opens with focus inside it, and Escape closes it and returns focus to the page.
5.2 Making Adjustments
Each control is a labeled button or stepper. Click, tap, or use Enter/Space when focused. Adjustments apply immediately so you can see the effect before moving on. Combine as many as you like; they layer.
5.3 Saving Preferences
Your choices persist between pages and between visits. Saved in your browser’s local storage, on your device, never on our servers. Clear your browser data and they reset.
5.4 Resetting
One control inside the panel resets every adjustment to default in a single click.
5.5 If You Hide It
Choosing “Hide this button” tucks the widget away for your visit; a “Show accessibility tools” link appears near the footer so you can restore it at any time. Hiding the widget never removes the site’s built-in accessibility (Section 6). That’s always on.
5a. Keyboard Operation
The whole site works without a mouse: Tab / Shift+Tab move through links, buttons, and form fields in a logical order; Enter activates links and buttons; Space toggles checkboxes and buttons; Escape closes the accessibility panel and the chat window; and arrow keys operate dropdown menus in forms. Focus is always visible. If you can’t see where you are, that’s a bug we want reported (Section 13).
6. Site-Wide Accessibility Features
Beyond the widget, the site itself provides: descriptive alt text on real-work photography; a single, consistent navigation on every page; visible keyboard focus indicators; form fields with proper labels and clear error messages announced to assistive technology; color choices checked for contrast against WCAG AA; motion that respects your operating system’s reduced-motion preference automatically (the ticker and animations stop without any widget needed); and link text that says where it goes.
7. The Chat Assistant
Our chat assistant (Inky) is keyboard-operable. Open, type, send, and close without a mouse, and can be hidden entirely with its Hide control; a “Chat with us” restore tab appears so you can bring it back. Everything Inky offers is also available by phone: (916) 944-7195.
8. Compatibility
Web Browsers
Tested with current versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox, on desktop and mobile.
Screen Readers
Built to work with common screen readers including VoiceOver, NVDA, and TalkBack via standards-based markup.
Other Assistive Technologies
Voice-control software, switch access, and screen magnifiers work with the site’s standard controls; the widget’s large-target and spacing options help further.
9. Known Limitations
We’d rather name the gaps than pretend there are none:
• Third-party destinations. Google Maps directions, external review platforms, and our social pages are governed by those providers’ own accessibility support and may not meet the same standard.
• Photographs of printed work. Our work-wall photos include signs whose own printed text is part of the image; the alt text describes each photo, but the full text of every sign in every photo isn’t reproduced. If you want the details of any pictured job, call and we’ll describe it.
• The AI chat assistant. Usable by keyboard and screen reader, but a live phone call remains the most accessible way to have a conversation with us, and we answer it ourselves.
Where any element falls short, the same information is always available directly from us by phone or in person.
10. Ongoing Effort & Testing
Accessibility is reviewed as pages are added and content changes: automated checks for structure, contrast, and labels; manual keyboard passes; and screen-reader spot checks on new page types. When an issue is found, by our checks or by a visitor. It goes into the same queue as any production fix and gets handled promptly, not filed away. This statement is reviewed whenever the site changes materially, and at least annually.
11. Alternate Formats
Anything on this website (prices, product details, policies) is available in an alternative format on request: read over the phone, printed in large type at the counter, or emailed as accessible text. Just ask.
